Lush stone fruit and nectarine layers blend with subtle vanilla and hazelnut notes, leading into a vibrant, fruit-driven palate and a long, satisfying finish.

Winemaking

The Chardonnay was hand-picked across three different blocks, each differing dependent on flavour, Brix and acidity. At the winery, whole bunches were sorted into the press. The juice was gently squeezed and settled for 12 hours in tank, then transferred to barrel for 100% natural (wild) fermentation. The barrel configuration was a mix of new, one-year-old and older French barriques. Post fermentation, the barrels were stirred fortnightly for two months, then left to sit over winter before naturally going through malolactic fermentation in the spring.

The detail

Region: 100% Waipara Valley, North Canterbury
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
Winemaker: Alastair Maling MW
Maturation: Fermented and aged for 11 months in a combination of new and old oak
Alcohol: 13.5%
Acidity (TA): 7.03 g/L
Residual sugar: 1.73 g/L
pH: 3.34
When to enjoy: Drinking well now and will continue to develop for a further five years

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0021/6471/9699/files/a0d5ee7c-fd4e-48dd-9324-d4feed69f693.png?v=1791402448
