Our founder Royce McKean recently sat down with the NZ Wine Podcast for his first ever podcast appearance, a wide-ranging and honest conversation about how Tiki came to be.
It's a story that starts in 2004, when Royce and Sue McKean bought an 800-acre former sheep farm, plus a neighbouring 100 acres, in Waipara, North Canterbury. Vines went into the ground across 2005 and 2006, and Tiki released its inaugural vintage in 2009, before growing into the Tiki, Maui and Waiata range we make today.
Along the way, Royce credits the many people who have been integral to Tiki's journey.
And he finishes on the most recent chapter: becoming the first vineyard and winery in New Zealand to achieve Regenerative Certification.
