In Tribute
This wine is a tribute to our dad, William John McKean. He has shown us how to be honourable and respectful, to have the strength to question what we don’t believe in and to stand our ground for what we do.

The Wine
The 2017 harvest gave small berries which resulted in great concentration.  Red and dark fruit characters intertwine with aromatic oak and earthy complexities.  The pallet is full bodied yet refined and well proportioned with excellent length and a refreshing finish.

A gorgeously expressed pinot; the seductively fragrant bouquet shows dark cherry, spiced plum, vanilla, game and mixed spice characters with a touch of truffle complexity. The palate is concentrated and beautifully rounded, delivering terrific fruit power and intensity, while remaining elegant and refined.  Multi-layered and gratifyingly delicious.

Complex and intense, varietal and pure, mineral laden and distinctive bouquet. Aromas and flavours of dark red berries - cherry and baked raspberry, a touch of dried cranberry then dark red plum. There’s plenty of baking spice layers and toasty wood complexities. Firm and dry with moderate intensity of tannins, medium+ acid line and a core of pinosity. Still primary and developing, but tasting quite perfect today. A lengthy complex finish. Best drinking from 2022 through 2028+.

Huge, brooding, herbal nose with aromas of black cherry, cured meat, bacon fat, chard and cacao. A savoury, spicy wine with generous fruit, concentrated, saturated cherry flavours and drying tannins.
